Kitchens and baths
Kitchens and baths
A kitchen that feeds the whole house on a holiday weekend, and baths worth the drive up.
A lake house kitchen works hardest on four days a year. We plan it for those days, with room for twelve around the island and a second dishwasher, and then for the quiet weekends in between.

Cost
What changes the cost
No figure here: the house sets the number, and the estimate shows where it came from.
Layout
Keeping the sink and range where they are costs less than moving them.
Cabinetry
Stock, semi-custom and custom run at very different prices and lead times.
Counters and tile
Stone and slab choices vary widely, and so do their lead times.
Plumbing
Old supply lines and drains in a summer house often have to be replaced while the walls are open.
Appliances
They set the cabinets and the electrical, so we choose them early.

Questions
About kitchens and baths
How long are lead times?
Cabinetry and stone can take months, which is why we order in late summer for a winter build.
Can you work around the house's plumbing?
We check supply lines and drains early, since a summer house often has older pipes behind the walls.
Do you do baths on their own?
Yes, and a bath is often the quickest piece of work to schedule.
